Een aantal maanden geleden werd Feyre onsterfelijk, dankzij de krachten van de 7 High Lord’s werd zij een High Fae. Terwijl ze samen met hoge priesteres Ianthe haar trouw voorbereid probeert haar High Lord Tamlin er alles aan te doen om de veiligheid van Feyre te verzekeren. Feyre heeft niets meer gehoord van Rhysand, de High Lord of the Night Court waar ze een deal mee gesloten had. Ze voelt zich eenzaam en opgesloten in the Spring Court. Personages
Alle personages werden heel goed uitgebouwd. De details die de auteur aan de personages gaf was geweldig.
Feyre die we in het eerste boek als een dapper sterfelijk meisje leerden kennen, is in dit boek veranderd van een lelijk eendje naar een prachtige zwaan, een High Fae. Ze is dapper, vastberaden, nieuwsgierig, leergierig, in het begin wat besluiteloos, maar eens ze weet wat ze wil gaat ze met alles wat ze heeft haar doel tegemoet.
In dit 2de deel leren we Rhysand beter kennen, de High Lord of the Night Court met zijn vele geheimen, een duister, mysterieus en geliefd door velen onder de lezers.
In dit boek maken we kennis met Morrigan en Amren, 2 sterke vrouwelijke personages, en familie van Rhysand. Morrigan het personage die zo je beste vriendin zou kunnen worden, en Amren is rechtoe rechtaan. Een personage die zegt waar het op staat en die je je plaats zal wijzen als je verkeerd bent.
Ook worden Cassian en Azriel geintroduceerd in het verhaal, de “broers” van Rhysand, beschermend, maken grapjes wanneer nodig, eerlijk en zeggen waar het op staat.
In het eerste boek maakten we kennis met Tamlin en Lucien. Tamlin, een lieftallig personage, is dat nu veel minder. Te bezorgt, te beschermend, geheimen, leugens, bedrog. Lucien is in dit verhaal echt het schoothondje van Tamlin, terwijl hij in het eerste boek de rechter hand en beste vriend van Tamlin was.
We leren Feyre’s zussen Elain en Nesta beter kennen. Elain, de lieve en gevoelige zus en Nesta, de zus met een hart van ijs.
Plot
Het plot was onvoorspelbaar. Het draaide telkens anders uit en was nooit saai of vervelend. Spannend, grappig, gemoedelijk, sexy. Het plot had alles wat een boek nodig heeft om goed te zijn.
Schrijfstijl
De schrijfstijl van Sarah J Maas blijft verbazen, makkelijke taal, wekt nieuwsgierigheid, een variatie aan woordkeuzes, mooie verwoording
Wereldopbouw
Alle verschillende gebieden, paleizen, omgevingen, wezens, … werden zodanig gedetaileerd omschreven dat het niet moeilijk is om de beelden te zien. Het is net een film die zich afspeelt in kleuren, gevoelens, geuren, uitzichten, de gebeurtenissen … een adembenemende ervaring om te lezen.
Wat vond ik van het boek?
Ik was geboeid door het verhaal van begin tot einde. Het heeft me geen minuut verveeld. Het verhaal heeft spanning, lust, liefde, verdriet, … alles wat een goed boek naar mijn mening moet hebben. Met de expliciete scene in het boek vind ik het persoonlijk meer een New Adult boek dan een Young Adult boek, maar dat ter zijde is het geweldig.
Alhoewel ik het soms wat vervelend vond dat Feyre niet altijd goed wist wat ze wou, is zij toch een van mijn favoriete personages. Zij en Amren pieken er bovenuit. Cassian kan ik ook wel apprecieren. Tamlin kan ik totaal niet meer luchten, eens je het boek leest, wordt wel duidelijk waarom.
Al bij al zijn 5 sterren waard!

A few months ago Feyre became immortal, thanks to the powers of the 7 High Lords she became a High Fae. As she prepares her allegiance with High Priestess Ianthe, her High Lord Tamlin tries to do everything she can to ensure the safety of Feyre. Feyre has not heard from Rhysand, the High Lord of the Night Court with whom she had made a deal. She feels lonely and trapped in the Spring Court. What awaits Feyre in the future, and will the High Lord of the Night Court finally come and claim her?
characters
All the characters were developed very well. The detail the author gave to the characters was amazing.
Feyre, whom we got to know in the first book as a brave mortal girl, has changed in this book from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan, a High Fae. She is brave, determined, curious, eager to learn, a bit indecisive at first, but once she knows what she wants she goes with everything she has to achieve her goal.
In this 2nd part we get to know Rhysand better, the High Lord of the Night Court with its many secrets, a dark, mysterious and beloved by many of the readers.
In this book we are introduced to Morrigan and Amren, 2 strong female characters, and family of Rhysand. Morrigan the character who could become your best friend, and Amren is straight forward. A character that says it all and will show you your place if you're wrong.
Also, Cassian and Azriel are introduced to the story, Rhysand's "brothers", protective, make jokes when necessary, honest and say it like it is.
In the first book we were introduced to Tamlin and Lucien. Tamlin, a lovely character, is much less so now. Too concerned, too protective, secrets, lies, deceit. Lucien is really Tamlin's lap dog in this story, while in the first book he was Tamlin's right hand and best friend.
We get to know Feyre's sisters Elain and Nesta better. Elain, the sweet and sensitive sister and Nesta, the sister with a heart of ice.
Plot
The plot was unpredictable. It turned out differently every time and was never boring or boring. Exciting, funny, jovial, sexy. The plot had everything a book needs to be good.
writing style
Sarah J Maas's writing style continues to amaze, easy language, arouses curiosity, a variety of word choices, beautiful wording world building All the different areas, palaces, environments, creatures, ... have been described in such detail that it is not difficult to see the images. It's like a movie set in colours, feelings, smells, views, the events… a breathtaking experience to read.
What did I think of the book?
I was captivated by the story from start to finish. It hasn't bored me for a minute. The story has tension, lust, love, sadness, ... everything a good book should have in my opinion. With the explicit scene in the book, I personally think it's more of a New Adult book than a Young Adult book, but that aside, it's great.
Although I sometimes found it a bit annoying that Feyre didn't always know what she wanted, she is still one of my favorite characters. She and Amren stand out. I also appreciate Cassian. Tamlin I can no longer air, once you read the book, it becomes clear why.
All in all its worth 5 stars!
